Pennsylvania's Culture

Pennsylvania had set up a public school system in 1834 when the free school act started. Scientific theory in Pennsylvania was established by Ben Franklin, David Rittenhouse, and the Bartrams. The American Philosophical Society encouraged the theory the most. Some say that the Pennsylvania led scientific theory and the Enlightenment sbecause they founded more than four scientific societies. The colony was also recognized for it's religious beliefs. In Pennsylvania Europeans had broke off ridiculous ideas of their churches back in Europe. At this time Quakers were still leading reform in the colony of Pennsylvania; the Quakers also led movements for humanitarians. The Great Awakening did not affect the colonies then because it was free of religon and slaves.
